This Entrust (formerly Datacard) holographic laminate ribbon creates a protective layer that covers your printed smart contact cards. This application substantially reduces your cards’ normal wear and tear and protects them from scrapes. This laminate ribbon is made of clear polyester and makes your printed smart contact cards more resistant to damages caused by repetitive use and humidity. Plus, it offers additional protection by printing Entrust’s OptiSelect™ unique “Secure Lock” holographic design on the entirety of your cards. This process increases your smart contact cards’ security and durability, and ensures their authenticity. This ribbon is specially designed to not deposit lamination on the chip contacts, which would block its reading. This ribbon laminates 300 images and is only compatible with card printers equipped with an Entrust (formerly Datacard) CLM laminator.
* Note: On one of the laminate rollers, you will find a radio-frequency antenna called RFID (see picture). This antenna should not be removed as it enables the printer to recognize the type of laminate installed in the lamination module. If this antenna is removed while loading the laminate, you will get an error message (e.g. "Printer Laminate Not Identified"). This will automatically suspend the printing of all the remaining cards. To avoid this problem, make sure the RFID antenna is securely attached to the laminate ribbon. If you mistakenly removed the antenna, put it back on the correct roller and restart the printer.
